I recently got a Digital SLR camera (Canon Rebel XT) and my dad has several good lenses for an older film-based SLR camera. The lenses are different in the fact that the old ones have 3 “blade” type metal pieces at the bottom instead of the relatively flat new lens. Is there something I can get to use the old lenses on my new camera? I really want to use that lens
Thanks guys, will do a little more research and see if there is an adapter available.

I don’t think so.
Depending on the make- there might be some adapters you can buy, but don’t hold your breath.

Canon, and Canon and only Canon. Can’t compare Canon Digital SLRs with any other camera in the world. I am a canon user and I use Canon EOS10D Digital SLR with a great 17-40mm L USM lens and 100-400mm IS L USM lens.
I love my camera and infact yesterday I took my camera in Wimbledon to see tennis and take pictures, I was surprised, every single professional photographer out there had Canon with 600mm lens.

Canon EOS 1D or 1DS MKII are the best ever professional cameras. 1D is 8frames per seconds and i have seen it used my most of the journalists even the BBC.

Depends how much you want to spend and the purpose of usage, If not for very professional use, buy a decent but cheap digital slr like Canon EOS30D with a good lens specially L series lenses, they cost a lot but is the best lens available. 5 frames per second is not bad at all with large screen.

Or go for even more expensive full frame sensor which is Canon EOS5D, expensive but a bridge between a professional high end camera.

I Have a very expensive camera, and I want to take it on a jetski with me at lake powell. Im worried about it getting wet or damaged. What is the best way to waterproof it for very cheap or free? I was thinking plastic wrap or plastic bags, but I wouldnt be able to acess the controls that way. Anyone have any ideas?

Don’t try any cheap ways to do this, that’s way too nice of a camera to chance it with. I would look into whether there are waterproof cases available for the specific camera you have. Don’t use anything other than that. Many camera companies do sell these for their cameras, or third party companies might make one that works with that model.

Im gonna be taking some photos of fireworks when its dark whilst holding the camera.

Iv only had it 2 weeks and just getting to grasp how to use it properly i havent got a tripod or remote yet.

So what im asking is how to set the camera up for what I would like to do with it.

Iv got: Canon EOS 500D
Canon 18-55mm IS lens
Sigma 70-300mm telephoto lens

1) don’t hand-hold…
2) for bonfire night, just a tripod or monopod…
3) use a cable shutter release…
4) use the 18-55mm for fireworks closest to you…
5) set the ISO to 100 and the f~stop to f/16 to get the best clarity…

No, and you dont want to!
Your SLR is optical, which means you can enlarge the pics with minimal loss of sharpness. Try zooming on any digital pic on your pc and you’ll see that the quality of digital pics is CRAP
